Istria is abundant with interesting details and particularities that need to be discovered slowly and patiently. A small Istrian place with only a couple of thousand inhabitants named Ližnjan is one of them. It's situated near the seaside in the southeastern part of the Peninsula, so you won't have problem with finding a perfect spot on the beach splashed by the clear blue Adriatic. Holiday in Ližnjan guarantees a vacation in a quiet area, yet it's close to some popular Istrian entertainment, natural, cultural and historical centers: Pula, Medulin, Cape Kamenjak, Brijuni National Park… On top of all, Ližnjan is distinctive for its own attractions, such as paleontological and archeological findings. The most famous are port Kuje with the remains of an ancient Roman country villa, and a massive hillfort (gradina) Nezakcij, which was the capital of the prehistoric tribe Histri (after whom Istria was named). Ližnjan is also a home to an interesting literary association Zvona i Nari that aims to produce a positive influence within this small community through creativity and constructiveness.
